one year course in ADVANCED DESIGN STUDIES FOR SUSTAINABILITY
Our main study programme is a one year course in Advanced Design Studies for Sustainability. The course consists of theme-based modules. Each module is completed with a group project. The study year equals two academic semesters and consists of several modules. All modules are compulsory to obtain the graduation certificate issued by the Institute.
OPEN WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS & EVENTS
In parallel to the main compulsory course, the Institute facilitates extra curriculum short courses and workshops in collaboration with the Art Quarter Budapest, that are also accessible to external students.
All the output of the work will be summarised and accessible via the Institute’s archive.
ADVANCED DESIGN STUDIES FOR SUSTAINABILITY Course
The course is relevant to all types of postgraduates seeking to deepen their critical thinking through an intense period of interdisciplinary work in Design Studies.
We aim to give optimal conditions for our students to deep-dive into interdisciplinary work within design for sustainability and explore how scientific and technological discoveries and developments can be best applied to benefit humanity and the environment.
Students get the opportunity to explore the nature of current developments in design, such as Design Thinking, the external circumstances and challenges Design faces, and the ever-changing context of potential outcomes.
Applicants are carefully selected to represent their discipline in small multidisciplinary groups that work much like co-creative labs, deep-diving into specific themes and challenges. Intense interdisciplinary work enables the group to explore more comprehensive solutions and scenarios, taking into consideration the potential impact of design manifestations, whether those outcomes are intentional or not.
By completing the one year programme, our students gain a post-graduate studies certificate of attendance in Advanced Design Studies for Sustainability from the Institute of Advanced Design Studies, Budapest.
Study fields are areas of expertise that will be represented on the Advanced Design Studies for Sustainability Course for Postgraduates.

Students gain access to an immersive learning experience with leading experts active in their field. These visiting tutors ensure the latest knowledge within the Study Fields, always challenging the content, structure and relevance of the work.
The Program is run in English, and lasts 10 months, from October to July. It consists of weekly and monthly theme-based modules that are mandatory to attend in person.
